Located within the newly revitalized U70 complex at Uferstrasse 70, Halle HU2 is emerging as a new hub for artistic creation, critical dialogue, and collaborative production. Set in a former industrial hall, the space opens in autumn 2024 as a flexible platform for exhibitions, performative formats, interactive installations, and creative processes.
A central feature of HU2 is its role as the home of the European research project PERCEIVE (Perceptive Enhanced Realities of Colored Collections through AI and Virtual Experiences). This project explores how technologies such as AI and Extended Reality (XR) can be used to digitally reconstruct, interpret, and communicate the colors of cultural heritage objects. HU2 serves as a site for developing, showcasing, and testing the project’s artistic and technological prototypes.
At the same time, HU2 is the construction and development site of the Open Space Museum – a mobile, modular exhibition platform designed for public spaces. Here, the first elements of this innovative museum format are being built and tested, offering new, participatory ways to make culture visible and accessible.

Halle HU2 – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst, Forschung und kulturelle Experimente
Mitten im neu belebten U70-Areal an der Uferstrasse 70 entsteht ein neuer Ort für Kunst, Dialog und kreative Produktion: Halle HU2. Die ehemalige Industriehalle wird ab Herbst 2024 als flexibler Kunstraum betrieben, der Platz für Ausstellungen, performative Formate, interaktive Installationen und kreative Prozesse bietet.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Rolle der Halle HU2 als Zuhause des europäischen Forschungsprojekts PERCEIVE (Perceptive Enhanced Realities of Colored Collections through AI and Virtual Experiences). Das Projekt widmet sich der digitalen Erfassung, Interpretation und Vermittlung farbiger Kulturgüter durch innovative Technologien wie KI und Extended Reality (XR). HU2 dient dabei als Denk-, Test- und Ausstellungsraum für Prototypen und Demonstratoren.
Gleichzeitig ist HU2 auch Bauplatz und Entwicklungszentrum des Open Space Museum – einer mobilen, modularen Museumsplattform, die im öffentlichen Raum installiert werden kann. Hier entstehen die ersten Elemente dieses innovativen Formats, das Kultur niederschwellig zugänglich macht und neue Formen partizipativer Wissensvermittlung erprobt.
